President’s Message – Holiday Newsletter 2024
On behalf of the PACE Canada Board and Executives, I take this opportunity to wish all of our Adopt-A- School Sponsors, Donors, Patrons, Members, and Friends the very best wishes for the Christmas and Holiday Season. May you have a wonderful time with friends and family as we each celebrate in our own traditional ways.
Just when we felt that things were getting back to normal this year, with our successful in person Annual General Meeting in May, and our Spring Sunday Social in June the Toronto flood in August swamped our PACE Office which is now uninhabitable due to mold build up. Support from the building owners has been slow coming. However our Officers continue to manage to get things done by working from Home.
In other news, PACE welcomes the new Jamaica Minister of Education Dr. Dana Dixon who was appointed on October 30, 2024. She has indicated her focus will be on Early Childhood Education (ECE).
Through the generous donations from our members and supporters:
- Again this year, PACE Canada provided bursaries to two George Brown College ECE teacher students.
- We also provided funding support to 12 schools that were impacted by Hurricane Beryl.
- The 1500 OneTab computer devices ordered this year have now been delivered to Kingston and distribution plans are underway, thanks to our excellent partnership with the Jamaica Early Childhood Commission and the National education Trust.
This is the time of year to provide Gift Boxes to schools with educational items from our partner Sangsters’ Book Store in Jamaica. So please continue to support this program through your online donations
We thank you all for your continued support of PACE Canada, as your support goes a long way to achieving our goal of Helping Young Children Succeed.
With Thanks
Diana Burke
President, PACE Canada
